Dr. Yegnasubramanian honored with Dharmatma title by Jagadguru
The Jagadguru Shankaracarya of Sringeri Sharada Peetham, Sri Sri Bharati Teertha Mahaswami honored the Chairman of SVBF Dr. S. Yegnasubramanian with a proclamation of the title Dharmatma, on the auspicious day of Saraswati Puja during the Navaratri Durbar of 2013. Dr. Yegnasubramanian is only the 3rd person to be so bestowed with this title in the 1200 plus years of the Peetham’s history and the first non-resident Indian to be so honored!
Padmasri Dr. V. R. Gowrishankar, CEO, Sringeri Sharada Peetham, read in the august presence of the Jagadguru and other distinguished devotees, the many outstanding contributions made by Dr. Yegnasubramanian to foster Sanatana Dharma both in India and overseas that culminated in this award.
The citation read by Dr. Gowrishankar noted Dr. Yegnasubramanian’s tireless effort to propagate the message of Sanatana Dharma through a number of noble activities. Chief among them being:
Propagation of Vaidika Dharma, over 25 years, through teaching the Vedas, the Gita and other scriptures to Indians in America.
Establishing and sustaining Sringeri Mutt branches in the United States and Canada with 4 Mutts in the US alone to roughly correspond to the 4 Amnaya Peethams in India. The Mutts are located in Stroudsburg, PA, Detroit, MI, Houston, TX and San Diego, CA.
Conducting Veda Sammelanas in India over the years expressly to honor Veda Panditas for their scholarship. A Veda Sammelana was even held in Stroudsburg, PA in 2013.
Providing sanctuary to many cows in the US.
His unwavering devotion to the Jagadguru and the Peetham as well as discharging ably any task assigned to him by the Acarya.

Vakgeyakara Vaibhavam – Student Performance
SVBF Cultural committee warmly invites all community members (parents, teachers, children, students) as we showcase their prowess, talent and manodharma on this year’s Vakgeyakara Vaibhavam event on November 9th (Saturday) starting at 10 a.m. The 6 senior students performing this year are from New Jersey, PA and Chicago! They will be performing on stage with musical accompaniments!
SVBF Cultural committee invites all dedicated teachers and students of Carnatic music, all across North America to come and participate in this event which we have dedicated as a new tradition starting this year. The month of May is the designated period for the Gurus to perform while their students have an opportune time to do so in November!
Annual Deepavali Puja
The annual Deepa Puja will be conducted on starting at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2013. Ladies perform the puja to the lamps by Lalitha Sahasranama Archana (thousand divine names of Goddess) to the lamp, which symbolizes prosperity and knowledge.
Bhagavati Seva
On Saturday, November 23, 2013, Bhagavati Seva and Durga Deepa Namaskara will be conducted in the SVBF temple at 4:30 p.m.
